Lil Wayne Live
Comment On The Show
Miami producers Infamous and Drew Correa, the duo behind Lil Wayne’s “Mr. Carter” and Weezy’s new rocker “Prom Queen,” have revealed some details about Weezy’s new rock album Rebirth, due in store April 7th. “There were rumors Wayne was working on a rock album, but I assumed it was just 808 drums with guitars on it. But that night when we worked on the track, [Wayne] said he wanted lots of drums, bass and guitars,” Infamous told Billboard. “Drew started to add organs, and [Wayne] said no. That’s when I realized it was actually going to be a real rock album.” The duo worked on three songs from Weezy’s Rebirth. “He’s done everything he can with hip-hop and has proven himself,” Infamous adds. “Now he’s about to prove himself as a rocker and we’re excited to be a part of it.” Producers Cool & Dre and Develop are also expected to be a part of it. As for how “Prom Queen” came together, Correa said, “Wayne hit me up one night and wanted us to come through the studio to make some tracks with him live. When the track came together the next morning everyone thought it was the shit and [Wayne] told us it would be a single. We though he was joking, we thought he was just saying that to be nice. But a couple of days later we were signing paperwork and it was actually happening.” Even though “Prom Queen” leaked already, the track will make its official debut tonight over several platforms. The song will stream here on iWayne, plus Weezy will perform the song live for the first time at a concert in San Diego which will stream live on here at iWayne. Then tomorrow, January 28th, “Prom Queen” will hit iTunes, Amazon MP3 and most other digital music providers.
